1	Admission of Students
1.1	Each student, whether full- or part-time, and whether following a University programme of study for an award or for any other reason, must complete University registration procedures annually which shall include a declaration accepting the obligation to abide by the rules of the University and to accept the jurisdiction of the Senate. This formal registration constitutes Matriculation and confers upon the student the full privileges of student membership of the University, as specifically set out in their Student Contract.
1.2	Save where specifically stated to the contrary, applicants must have satisfied the General Entrance Requirements and entrance requirements governing the programme of study they wish to follow. They must also be at least 16 years of age before being registered unless the programme has a separate specific age limit relating to professional body requirements. Exceptionally, at the discretion of the Vice-Chancellor, an individual applicant who is otherwise qualified but who is under 16 years of age may be registered (not applicable where professor body rules prohibit). Admissions Policy Group, on behalf of the Senate shall be informed at the first opportunity of the exercise of such discretion.
1.3	Registered students shall, under the conditions set out in the University Calendar, pay to the University such fees, charges and penalties as may be prescribed.
1.4	Students studying on pathway programmes prior to registration for a University programme of study are covered by the admissions and registration requirements of the partner. When they apply to progress to the relevant University award, they are covered by the Ordinances and Regulations. Students joining the University through approved transnational education, articulation and progression arrangements are also covered when they become University applicants.
